When I was a kid, my grandpa brought us a small raspberry bush for our new house on Monac Drive. We had a garden next to the garage, bordered by a white picket fence. We had strawberries, zucchini, tomatoes and other vegetables. Grandpa planted his single raspberry in a corner of the garden. In a few years we had a giant raspberry patch.
Mom sent us out to pick raspberries as they ripened. We had to be alert so that we could get there before the birds did. Mom was a master jam and jelly maker.
It’s always fun to come across wild fruits when you’re out on a walk. Tasty, too!
