St. Hedwig Church, Toledo

Toledo, Ohio is a wonderful place, with lots of stuff to do. Don’t you believe the songs! If only there weren’t so much snow…

Here is one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been in, St. Hedwig’s on Lagrange Street. Unfortunately, I didn’t discover this place till I was a teenager, and then I moved away. Now it’s only open for funerals and weddings, so you can’t just pop in for a mass on a Sunday.

I went to the Polish Festival in 2009, where we met my cousin Larry and his wife Sandi. They had a special mass that day so I was able to take pictures of the inside. Don’t you just love the Neo Gothic architecture and the altars and pulpit?

Makes me proud to be a Pollack from Toledo.
