South Mountain Panorama

This is from September of 2007, a series of 9 photos stitched into a panorama. We are standing at the lookout point (about 1,000 feet above Phoenix) at South Mountain looking North towards the Valley of the Sun. Wickipedia says that South Mountain Park is the largest city park in the United States.

The park was pretty crowded that evening. It’s still usually pretty hot here in the middle of September. A lot of people try to get just a little cooler by increasing their elevation, and there is a nice breeze up in the mountains. We managed to find a place that was sort of peaceful to watch the sunset.

While we were there, a cloud or two occasionally blocked the sun and created great god beams. A storm was moving in from the east, so we watched the clouds roll in as the sun set.
